Izcaragua

The 18-hole layout at Izcaragua Country Club is one of three courses that Joe Lee designed in Venezuela during the early 1980s – the other two tracks were Barquisimeto in Lara and Guataparo in Carabobo – and Rocky Roquemore assisted him with this project.

Built on the site of an old coffee plantation, the narrow fairways of the course were laid out in the valleys of the Izcaragua Mountains to form a par 71 track that measures 6,367 yards from the back tees with no fewer than thirteen of the holes featuring water hazards.

Californian company Thompson Golf Planning carried out a major renovation of the course between 2000 and 2003 when green complexes were upgraded, fairway bunkers enhanced and new tees added at the par four 5th hole to lengthen the challenge.
