Klagenfurt - Seltenheim

Carinthia is the southernmost province of Austria, which borders Italy and Slovenia and, not far from lake Wörthersee, is one of the country's leading courses - Klagenfurt-Seltenheim.

This young, but stylish, Perry Dye-designed course opened for play in 1996 and it's already considered to be one of his best European creations. Dye's designs are wildly creative, using attractive water features and well-shaped bunkers. Perry’s father, Pete Dye, invented target golf, so it's no surprise that Klagenfurt-Seltenheim has a number of exciting holes, including a do-or-die island green.

Measuring 6,426 metres from the back tees, with the par set at 72, this championship course is considered one of the most challenging in Europe for professionals. But, with six tees to choose from, Klagenfurt-Seltenheim is also gentle and forgiving for the high handicapper.

Although Klagenfurt-Seltenheim is an American-styled course, it's set amongst the most stunning Alpine scenery. A young team runs the club enthusiastically and the course is meticulously maintained to the highest standards. Additionally, there's a nine-hole course, called the Romantic, designed by the Hauser brothers, which winds through natural meadows and sloping forests. Klagenfurt-Seltenheim is certainly a progressive golf club and the exciting Perry Dye championship course is a perfect venue for a day's golf.
