Today, the layout extends to 5,951 metres from the back markers, playing to a par of 72 (35 for the front nine then 37 for the longer back nine). Water comes into play occasionally, most notably with ponds located between the fairways on #3 and #4 then the same scenario occurs between #15 and #16.
Highlight holes include the double doglegging par five 3rd (rated stroke index 1); the short par four 5th (with a huge bunker in front of the green); the only par three on the inward half at the 12th (located on the edge of a pond); and the left doglegged 18th which plays round an enormous fairway bunker to the home green.
World Top 100 Golf Courses
The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
