Laid out within a 135-acre property near the city of Espoo and opened for business in 2013, the course at Tapiola Golf is a transatlantic co-design by the American architect Tim Nugent and his Swedish counterpart Jan Sederholm.

Stretching to 6,115 metres from the back markers, the course occupies what was once the Mankka land fill site so there are no water features in play, with the only irrigation pond positioned discreetly next to the maintenance buildings in the southeast section of the property.

The club promotes firm and fast playing conditions by limiting the use of water to soften the fairways and greens and the inland links characteristics of the course are accentuated by the large number of sand bunkers, with trees only featuring around the perimeter of the layout.

Highlight holes include the shortest par three on the card at the 144-metre 2nd (which plays to an offset 2-tiered green with a huge bunker protecting the front right of the putting surface) and the 365-metre 18th, where the home green is surrounded by sand traps on all sides.
