Meadow Lake

Meadow Lake Golf Course is a 6,700-yard course affiliated with the Meadow Lake Resort, north of Kalispell in the upper corner of Montana (outside guests may make tee times). The club was originally designed during a regional tourism boom during the ‘70s, however no records indicate who the original designer was.

Less than a decade after its debut, however, Dick Phelps came through to make strategic amends and thus remains the architect on record. Players will be challenged on one side by Garnier Creek, which winds in between and across fairways, while the other side of the property uses tight evergreen corridors to monitor par. No. 7, a snaking par five, relies on both.

We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
