Neusiedlersee-Donnerskirchen
Set between the foothills of the Leithberge Mountains and the huge Lake Neusiedl – which straddles the Austrian/Hungarian border – lies Neusiedlersee-Donnerskirchen Golf Club. The course is another design from the prolific design duo of Kurt Rossknecht and Hans Erhardt and it opened for play in 1990.
Bounded on one side of the property by reed beds from the nearby lake, the fairways are generally open here, with trouble – mainly in the form of water hazards on the back nine – clearly visible at all times.
The 440-yard 8th is rated the most difficult hole on the front nine, with fairway bunkers flanking either side of the fairway at driving distance from the tee. On the back nine, the 403-yard 15th is another tough par four as water threatens all the way down the right hand side of the fairway from tee to green.
World Top 100 Golf Courses
The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
