Nokia River (Rock)

Nokia River Golf lies on the south shore of Lake Kulovesi, close to the city of Tampere and the Rock course is a 2016 redesign of an older layout by Lassi Pekka Tilander, comprising eleven new holes and seven existing holes.

Extending to 6,340 metres from the back tees, the Rock course plays to a par of 72, with holes arranged as two returning nines. Water comes into play around a couple of lakes on both the outward half (at the 5th and 6th) and inward half (at the 11th and 12th) and there’s further aquatic challenge to contend with when playing the tough par four 17th.

Highlight holes include the longest of the par threes at the 215-metre 8th (where a huge bunker guards the front right of the green); the stroke index 1 par four 13th (with out of bounds along the tree-fringed right of the fairway); and the par four 18th, which might yield a birdie if the long bunker to the front left of the triangle-shaped home green can be avoided.
