Oakmont Country Club

Apart from Augusta National, Oakmont Country Club has hosted more major Championships than any other course in the U.S. and it’s considered by many to be the toughest golf course in the world.

Oakmont is located on the West side of Pennsylvania close to Pittsburgh. The club was founded by Henry C. Fownes in 1903, it is the only course that he would design. The course was hand dug by Fownes and a team of men, and the course officially opened for membership in the autumn of 1904, playing 6,406 yards and a par 80.

The course itself is for its large and fast greens, and its famous "Church Pews" bunker which is likely to catch any wayward drives on the 3rd and 4th holes.

Oakmont has featured in our World Top 100 repeatedly over the years, with only one release - in 2014 - where it dropped out of the top 10 to 11th place. It is proven to be a world class golf course with a rich history, steeped in tradtion, and no doubt will continue to be so for a long time to come.
