Pickala (Forest)
The Forest course is one of three 18-hole courses at the Pickala golf complex, situated around 30 miles south west of Helsinki.
Reijo Hillberg fashioned the other two courses at Pickala (Seaside and Park) in 1987 and 1991 with the Forest arriving on the scene in 2004, from the drawing board of the prolific Swedish designer, Jan Sederholm.
The Forest layout measures 6,769 yards from the back tees and it’s routed in a giant clockwise loop around the perimeter of the golf resort; each nine configured as two par three and par five holes and five par fours.
Although the course is not too hilly, trees, ponds and well-placed bunkers will all take their toll on good scoring here. The par four 2nd and par five 7th holes make good use of water on the front nine whilst a run of four doglegs from holes 12 to 15 gives golfers plenty to think about on the inward half.
World Top 100 Golf Courses
The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
