Shenzhen (A & B)

Shenzhen Golf Club is located to the north of Hong Kong on the edge of Shenzhen, southern China’s major financial centre. The original 18-hole course was designed in 1985 by one of Japan’s most successful golfers, Isao Aoki. Nelson & Haworth added a further nine holes in 2000 and the original Aoki layout was given a Nelson & Haworth makeover at the same time.

Now with three loops of nine holes – the original course comprises of the A & B loop – Shenzhen Golf Club is without doubt the premier golf course in the area, which is reflected by a wealthy Japanese and Korean membership. Host to the Volvo China Open in November 2005, when England’s Paul Casey carded a closing round 65 to set up a play-off victory over compatriot Oliver Wilson, Shenzhen is a true tournament challenge and can be stretched to an impressive 7,127 yards from the tips.

With Lychee trees lining the wide fairways, the challenge at Shenzhen arrives with the approach shot to the tricky and well-guarded greens. You’ll need a precise short game to score well at Shenzhen Golf Club, one of China’s must-play golf courses.
