St Laurence Golf in Lohja opened in 1990 and it’s located less than an hour’s drive from Helsinki within the estate of the old Gunnarla Mansion. The club has two championship 18-hole courses at their disposal, the Kalkki-Petteri (“Old course”) and Pyhä Lauri (“New course”) as well as a 6-hole par three practice facility.
St Laurence was delighted to host a European Challenge Tour event over a composite course in June 2008 when former World Boys Amateur Champion Simon Robinson from Hartlepool, England won the SK Golf Challenge by six strokes.
Designed by Finnish course architect Kosti Kuronen, the original course opened for play in 1990, before an additional 18 holes were added in 2002. The New or Pyhä Lauri course layout is relatively flat and exposed to the wind, with the a routing that brings a number of ponds into play, especially on the back nine where five of theses holes have greens protected by water.
