The Old course at the Wembley Golf Course complex in Perth dates back to 1932, when Walter Fox set out the initial eighteen holes in the southeast section of a massive 36-hole public facility that extends to 300 acres.
There is a reason why Wembley Golf Complex is the busiest golf course in Australia with towering tuart trees, lush fairways and greens the envy of many private golf courses across Perth, the Old course has stood the test of time and serves up some of the best 'public' golf around.
Book early as getting a decent tee-time at the weekend can be difficult, with a slowish round almost guaranteed for anyone teeing off past 10 am. The holes are enjoyable to play and present an ongoing challenge to most golfers. The 6th and 18th stand out for me as the best holes on the course. A testament to Wembley Old is that it has been part of the PGA Tour of Australasia Qualifying School on multiple occasions.
