Zell am See - Kaprun - Saalbach-Hinterglemm (Kitzsteinhorn)

Laid out on the north bank of the Salzach River, close to the resort town of Zell am See, the 18-hole courses at Golfclub Zell am See-Kaprun (Schmittenhöhe and Kitzsteinhorn) are named after two of the many mountain peaks that surround a very pleasant golfing location.

The shorter Kitzsteinhorn course extends to just over 6,000 metres from the back tees, playing to a par of 73 (36 out then 37 in), with holes arranged as two returning nines. Water comes into the reckoning at half the holes, most notably on the back nine. Unusually, golfers play back-to-back par fives twice during their round, at the 3rd and 4th then at the 17th and 18th.

Highlight holes include the right doglegging 4th (rated stroke index 1), where a small pond protects the front right of the green; the par three 7th, with a large bunker in front of the green; the par five 10th which plays to a peninsula green; and the short par four 15th, veering left from the tee around another water hazard en route to the green.
