With 200 miles of Caribbean shoreline, Honduras has so much golfing potential but frankly Hondurans are far more interested in football (soccer) than golf. With only seven golf clubs from which to choose – six of which are 9-hole facilities – it’s no wonder that there are less than 1,000 registered Honduran golfers. However, with its varied climate – ranging from tropical to temperate – and with some capital investment Honduras is a potential golfing paradise. Black Pearl, a new Pete and Perry Dye-designed course of great promise, opened in 2010 on the island of Roatan at the Pristine Bay Resort.
