Northern Irish Road Trip Travel Guide
Northern Irish Road Trip

Follow the Top 100 Golf Courses team through Northern Ireland as they experience four incredible links punctuated by the world-class links at Royal County Down (World No. 3 and GB&I No. 1) and Royal Portrush (World No.14 and GB&I No. 6). Both royal links were influenced by Old Tom Morris and Harry Colt. Royal County Down hosted the Walker Cup with Royal Portrush hosting The 148th Open Championship in 2019 after its premier in 1951. Royal Portrush will also host the 153rd Open Championship in 2025. Both golf courses should be on your must-play list for a GB&I golf trip and serve as the anchor of any golf trip to Ireland.

Visits are also made to Castlerock (Northern Ireland No. 5) and Portstewart (GB&I No. 80) . Castlerock shares the same Harry Colt legacy as Royal County Down and Royal Portrush. Portstewart completes the northern coast trifecta with 54 holes – however, it is The Strand that you’ll be making the journey for. Following the Top 100 Golf Courses team through a thrilling road trip with interviews from the locals who know the courses better than anyone along with a few pints of Guinness along the way.

Watch the host of the Top 100 Golf Courses podcast, James Henderson, enjoy the Northern Irish hospitality at Royal Portrush on YouTube from May 22, 2024. Castlerock premieres on YouTube on May 31, 2024. Portstewart debuts on YouTube on June 5, 2024, with the Royal County Down release completing the road trip on YouTube on June 12th, 2024.
