Founded in 1913 with a 9-hole course, Banbridge Golf Club then added another three holes in 1970 before a full 18-hole layout became operational in 1991. Today, the layout extends to 5.665 yards, playing to a par of 69.
In the book Hooked, author Kevin Markham writes: “Banbridge may have been here for a long time, but as you rise and fall through the troughs you can easily see the course’s evolution – farmland butts up to the course for much of the round.
It does a good job taking you in different directions and giving you different feels as you cross over small lanes and through rows of hedges to reach the different sections. It adds to the diversity and interest on what is essentially a short, lively parkland course.”
