Glasgow & Clyde Valley

Glasgow emerged as a significant settlement during medieval times but achieved prominence during the Industrial Revolution as a manufacturing centre for textiles, shipbuilding, and engineering. The 18th-century tobacco trade with America established Glasgow as a commercial powerhouse, while the 19th century saw it become known as the "Second City of the Empire" due to its industrial might.
