Formed as a sports and social club in 1867, The Standard Club moved to its present site in 1987 when Arthur Hills set out an 18-hole golf course (subsequently renovated by Mike Riley in 2004) for the members.
Sharing a clubhouse with the original Marshwood layout at The Landings Club, the Magnolia course is another Arnold Palmer track from 1977 which Tim Liddy remodelled at the start of the new millennium.
The semi-private layout at Achasta Golf Club is a modern Jack Nicklaus Signature Course that brings the Chestatee River into play on several occasions, most notably on the par three 5th hole which is set out on a river island.
The Landing course was the first 18-hole layout to appear at Reynolds Lake Oconee in 1986. Designed by Bob Cupp, it actually started out as the Port Amor Country Club before it was acquired by the resort.
Originally constructed by Robert Trent Jones Senior in 1968, the University of Georgia Golf Course was recently renovated by Davis Love III, enabling it to cope with the demands of the modern day game.
Routed around the wandering waterways of Chicken Creek and Little River, the 18-hole layout at Atlanta National Golf Club is a late 1980s co-design from Pete and P.B. Dye which features many of the famous Dye design elements.
Although Glen Arven Country Club was formed in 1892, the design of the club’s course is credited to architects John van Kleek and Wayne Stiles, who built dozens of well-regarded layouts during the 1920s and 1930s.
Having designed the original course (The Landing) at Reynolds Lake Oconee in 1986, Bob Cupp returned two years later to complete work on his second eighteen holes at the resort, a layout which has since been renamed The Preserve.
The course at Piedmont Driving Club lies twenty miles southwest of the main clubhouse, routed around the sparkling waters of Cowart Lake. It’s a Rees Jones production, having been unveiled to critical acclaim at the start of the new millennium.
Opened for play in 2002 and considered to be one of Georgia’s best pay and play destinations, the 18-hole layout at Bear’s Best Atlanta offers a unique collection of replica holes compiled from the extensive design portfolio of Jack Nicklaus.
