Sweden

Sweden conjures up images of blonde, gorgeous people, long summer days and enduring winter nights. Not to mention flat-pack furniture and irritatingly popular music.

  1. Visby Golf Club (The One)

    Central & North Sweden, Sweden

Visby at Kronholmen celebrated the first fifty years of club history in 2008 and this remains an extremely popular European golf course.

  2. Bro Hof Slott Golf Club (Stadium)

    Central & North Sweden, Sweden

Clearly Bro Hof Slott Golf Club has a very bright future, especially given that the Stadium course hosted five editions of the Scandinavian Masters tournament between 2010 and 2016.

  3. Falsterbo Golfklubb

    South & West Sweden, Sweden

Falsterbo is one of the few true classic links courses in Continental Europe. It’s located at the southernmost tip of Sweden on the scenic Falsterbo peninsula, where the Öresund and the Baltic meet.

  4. Kristianstads GolfKlubb (East)

    South & West Sweden, Sweden

The Åhus Östra (East) course at Kristianstad Golfklubb is one of Sweden’s elder statesmen and is located at Åhus on a sandy and gently undulating landscape.

  5. Ullna Golf & CC

    Central & North Sweden, Sweden

"Water, water everywhere" could easily be the slogan of Ullna Golf Club where there are many holes set hard beside Lake Ullna (which doubles up in the winter as a huge skating rink).

  6. Vallda

    South & West Sweden, Sweden

Opened in 2009, the course at Vallda Golf and Country Club was fashioned by Hawtree Design in a classic British style, inspired by London’s heathland. With fescue seeded playing surfaces, Hawtree has created the feel good factor.

  7. Österåker (Öster by Stenson)

    Central & North Sweden, Sweden

The refashioned Österled (East) course at Österåkers Golf, now called Öster by Stenson, reopened in 2019. Designed by the 2016 Open Champion (and architect Christian Lundin), the East is themed on the Stadium course at TPC Sawgrass and L’Albatros at Golf National.

  8. Halmstad Golfklubb (Norra)

    South & West Sweden, Sweden

Sweden has some fantastic golf courses and the Norra (North) course at Halmstad Golfklubb is one of them. It’s a surreal setting where you can smell the salty sea air and you can hear the sea, but you can’t see it.

  9. The National (Links)

    South & West Sweden, Sweden

It’s reckoned the Swedish PGA complex just outside Malmö took over ten years of planning and construction before the new 18-hole The National Links course emerged in the summer of 2009.

  10. Barsebäck Resort (Ocean)

    South & West Sweden, Sweden

Situated on the west coast of Sweden lies the world renowned Barsebäck Golf resort. With two championship courses, there’s no shortage of great golf to be had at Barsebäck.

  11. Ljunghusen (1-18)

    South & West Sweden, Sweden

Ljunghusens Golfklubb dates back to 1932 and there are 27 holes to be sampled here on the unique maritime heath of the Falsterbo Peninsula.

  12. Sand

    South & West Sweden, Sweden

After a long search for land by architects Arthur Hills and Steve Forrest, they finally selected an old potato farm just outside Jönköping for Sand Golf Club.

  13. Vasatorp (TC)

    South & West Sweden, Sweden

In actual fact, the new Vasatorp TC (Tournament Course) is not entirely new as it consists of nine remodeled and nine original holes – within a golf complex that now extends to 54 holes...

  14. The National (Lakes)

    South & West Sweden, Sweden

The number of bunkers on the Lakes course averages four per hole, the same as the Links course, but the traps on the Lakes occupy an area three times that of the other course at the National.

  15. Kungliga Drottningholm

    Central & North Sweden, Sweden

The golf club hosted numerous international tournaments in the 1970s and 1980s, and household names like Nicklaus, Singh, Montgomerie, Ballesteros and Couples are all part of the heritage of Kungliga Drottningholms.

  16. Bro Hof Slott (Castle)

    Central & North Sweden, Sweden

Robert Trent Jones Jnr designed the Castle course at Bro Hof Slott Golf Club and it opened for play in 2009. It’s kept from the limelight by the stellar Stadium course, but the Castle should also be sampled when visiting Bro.

  17. Hills

    South & West Sweden, Sweden

Hills Golf & Sports Club was one of the most talked about new championship golf courses in Europe when it opened in 2005.

  18. Torekov

    South & West Sweden, Sweden

You’ll find the course at Torekovs Golf Club at the end of the Bjäre peninsula, nine miles to the west of the charming old town of Båstad on Sweden’s west coast.

  19. Elisefarm

    South & West Sweden, Sweden

When it debuted in the summer of 2005, the 18-hole layout at Elisefarm Golf Club was the first Hawtree golf design in Sweden since 1929.

  20. Frösåker (Stora)

    Central & North Sweden, Sweden

Frösåker Golf & Country Club is situated on the northern shore of Lake Mälaren and, because of its location on low-lying land so close to the lake, small ponds come into play at more than half the holes on the Stora course.
