    Falsterbo is one of the few true classic links courses in Continental Europe. It’s located at the southernmost tip of Sweden on the scenic Falsterbo peninsula, where the Öresund and the Baltic meet.

    The Åhus Östra (East) course at Kristianstad Golfklubb is one of Sweden’s elder statesmen and is located at Åhus on a sandy and gently undulating landscape.

    The refashioned Österled (East) course at Österåkers Golf, now called Öster by Stenson, reopened in 2019. Designed by the 2016 Open Champion (and architect Christian Lundin), the East is themed on the Stadium course at TPC Sawgrass and L’Albatros at Golf National.

    Sweden has some fantastic golf courses and the Norra (North) course at Halmstad Golfklubb is one of them. It’s a surreal setting where you can smell the salty sea air and you can hear the sea, but you can’t see it.

    It’s reckoned the Swedish PGA complex just outside Malmö took over ten years of planning and construction before the new 18-hole The National Links course emerged in the summer of 2009.

    Hills Golf & Sports Club was one of the most talked about new championship golf courses in Europe when it opened in 2005.

  18. Torekov

    South & West Sweden, Sweden

    You’ll find the course at Torekovs Golf Club at the end of the Bjäre peninsula, nine miles to the west of the charming old town of Båstad on Sweden’s west coast.

  19. Elisefarm

    When it debuted in the summer of 2005, the 18-hole layout at Elisefarm Golf Club was the first Hawtree golf design in Sweden since 1929.

    The golf club changed its name to Flommen when it joined the Swedish Golf Federation to avoid confusion with its celebrated next door neighbour, Falsterbo.

    Founded in 1930, Båstad Golfkubb engaged the then leading architectural firm of Fred Hawtree and JH Taylor to construct the Gamla (Old) course and it’s now considered to be the second oldest 18-hole layout in the country.

    Rafael Sundblom designed the original 9 holes at Orebro Golf Club (now known as Lannalodge Golf Resort)in 1939 and A.Berlund expanded the course to a full 18-hole layout in 1962.

    The Ocean course attracts all the golfing accolades at Barsebäck Golf resort because of its national and international tournament history but the shorter Pine course, which debuted in 1989, really doesn’t deserve to be overlooked at this wonderful golf complex on the Oresund Strait.

    The course at Kallfors Golfklubb opened for play in 1999 and was designed by the man behind Frosaker, Swedish architect Sune Linde. Elevated tees and big undulating greens are key features of the rolling Kallfors course.

  33. Bokskogen (Gamla)

    Laid out on the shores of Lake Yddingen, the Gamla (Old) course at Bokskogens Golfklubb was the venue for the European Boys Team Championship in 2006 - big tournaments here are commonplace.

  34. Arlandastad (Masters)

    Central & North Sweden, Sweden

    Host to the Scandinavian Masters in 2007 and 2008, the parkland Masters course at Arlandastad Golf Club opened in 1993 and was joined by the opening of the New course in 2001. This 36-hole facility is one of Sweden’s most popular and progressive.

  37. Landeryd (Vesterby)

    The Vesterby course is the third 18-hole layout now in play at Landerys Golfklubb, opening in 2006. Designed by Johan Benestam, it’s a layout offering “a risk and reward strategy from tee to green” with green contouring inspired by the famous old architects.

    The golf club at Forsbacka was formed in 1969 and – after a lot of hard work by volunteers on site – seven holes of the new golf course were in play by the summer of 1971...

    Situated next to an inlet of Lake Vättern, the 18-hole layout at Askersunds Golfklubb was originally configured as a 9-hole course back in 1984. In such pleasant rural surroundings, it’s hard to imagine this was once a heavily industrialized zinc mining region.

    When you visit Halmstad Golf Club at Tylösand, make sure you include time to enjoy both courses. The Södra (South) is just as much fun to play and is as well maintained as the more famous North course.

    At Isaberg Golf Club you will find two scenic 18-hole courses and the Östra (East) course has host to an annual event on the Nordea Tour.

  42. Kungsbacka (Gamla)

    Founded in 1970 and located to the south of Gothenburg, Kungsbacka Golf Club now boasts 36 holes with the Old (Gamla) course being the key layout with its combination of seaside, woodland and open country holes.

  43. Slite

    Central & North Sweden, Sweden

    Designed by the late Peter Nordwall, the course at Slite Golf Club is set on the eastern coast of Gotland, a couple of kilometres inland from the seaside resort village. Part parkland and part woodland, the layout’s modest yardage challenges and deceives.

  44. Varberg (Västra)

    Varbergs Golf Club dates back to the 1950s but its two 18-hole courses are of more recent vintage. The Ostra (East) course debuted in 1976 and the Västra (West) was unveiled in 1992...

  45. Djursholm

    Central & North Sweden, Sweden

    Founded in 1931, Djursholms Golfklubb developed its golf facility over time to eventually produce an 18-hole main layout and a 9-hole short course. Canadian Bob Kains renovated the entire operation between 2002 and 2007, upgrading the green complexes on every hole.

  46. Österlen (Lilla Vik)

    The Lilla Vik course, or Little Bay in English, is a delightful parkland layout where you can see and taste the Baltic Sea. With for holes set on high ground above the coastline this is the seaside gem at Österlens Golf Club.

  47. Mälarö (1-18)

    Central & North Sweden, Sweden

    The 27-hole facility at Mälarö GK Skytteholm is a Tommy Nordström design, with links-style fairways (apart from the woodland 9th hole) and firm and fast greens protected by pot bunkers.

  48. Göteborg

    South & West Sweden, Sweden

    Göteborg, or Gothenburg in English, was founded in 1904 and lays claim to being Sweden’s oldest golf club. Now located in Askim, Goteborg is a parkland course with a twist of the seaside.

  49. Kristianstads Golfklubb (West)

    South & West Sweden, Sweden

    Dating back to 1924, Kristianstads Golfklubb now operates two 18-hole courses, Åhus Östra and Åhus Västra, with the latter set out in a Muirfield-style as a clockwise 9-hole loop and a counterclockwise 9-hole loop, which helps to heighten the challenge when it’s windy.

  50. Kalmar (Old)

    Prolific architect Pierre Fulke recently upgraded the Old course at Kalmar Golf Club, which dates back to 1966 and it’s still a magnificent stroll through mature parkland.

  51. Österåker (Västerled)

    Central & North Sweden, Sweden

    The Västerled (West) course at Österåkers Golf is a Sven Tumba and Jan Sederholm production that has proved to be a stern test for the best golfers since it debuted in 1988. The club has recently reduced the Västerled's bunkered area significantly and introduced revetted hazards.

    The course at S:t Arild Golfklubb measures 6,956 yards and it’s laid out over a gently rolling landscape with relatively wide fairways winding their way around several small ponds and stands of trees...

  53. Idrefjällen

    Central & North Sweden, Sweden

    Idrefjällens Golfklubb was formed in 1990 and within two years an 18-hole course was in play. With a back nine comprising three par threes, three par fours and three par fives, the layout extends to a modest 5,630 metres from the back tees.

  54. Fjällbacka

    South & West Sweden, Sweden

    Fjällbacka Golf Club is an exceedingly pleasant seaside course where continuous improvements year-on-year make the layout an ongoing treat to play.

  55. Katrineholm (Gamla)

    Central & North Sweden, Sweden

    Katrineholm is the home golf club of the tall Swede, Robert Karlsson. He is still involved in the club and continues to advise on how to keep improving this fine course.

  56. Salem

    Central & North Sweden, Sweden

    One of the younger facilities in the Stockholm area, Salem Golf Club was founded in 1988 but it would take seven years before the first nine holes were ready for play at Högantorp farm. By 1996 the club had expanded to 18 holes and a further nine (Högantorps) was added in 2003.

  57. Landeryd (Masters)

    A 1990 design from architect Åke Persson, the Masters course at Landeryds Golfklubb winds its way around three distinct landforms – heathland, parkland and woodland – beside the Kinda canal and its American character is underlined by the waterfall at the par three 7th hole.

  58. Borås (Norra)

    South & West Sweden, Sweden

    Formed in 1933, Borås Golfklubb is reckoned to be the 15th oldest in Sweden. The club moved to its current location in the early 1950s, where it has since developed two 18-hole layouts, the Norra and Sörra.

  59. Falkenberg (18-hole)

    South & West Sweden, Sweden

    Falkenbergs Golf Club dates back to 1949, but the 18-hole parkland course in play today was laid out in the 1960s, firstly as nine holer and then expanded to a full eighteen holes in 1968.

  60. Ekerum (Långe Jan)

    The island of Öland is a very popular Swedish holiday destination and the Ekerum Resort is one of the most complete for golf with two 18-hole courses. Långe Jan offers a fine test with large rolling greens and expansive sandy waste areas...

  61. Österlen (Djupadal)

    Some prefer the gorse-flanked Djupadal course at Österlens Golfklubb to Lilla Vik, its pretty seaside parkland sibling. Fashioned by Tommy Nordström in 2001, the Djupadal layout (located 1 km south of Lilla Vik) has recently been renovated by Pierre Fulke Design.

  62. Åtvidaberg

    Central & North Sweden, Sweden

    Formed in 1954, Åtvidabergs Golfklubb appointed Douglas Brasier (who has more than twenty Swedish course designs to his name) to set out the original course for the members. Peter Nordvall has since carried out a new millennium upgrade of the layout.

  63. Säter

    Central & North Sweden, Sweden

    Founded in 1984, the members of Säters Golfklubb played over a 6-hole course on the western edge of Lake Ljustern until 1990 when an 18-hole layout was finally unveiled. There’s an eclectic mix of golf on offer here, from lakeside holes to parkland and forest flanked fairways.

  64. Hook (Park)

    South & West Sweden, Sweden

    The 18-hole Park course at Hooks Golfklubb was completed in 1984, having started out as a very modest 4-hole track some fifty years earlier. This initial course was expanded to an 11-hole layout in 1974 before finally opening in its present format a decade later.

  65. Stockholm

    Central & North Sweden, Sweden

    Established in 1904, Stockholms Golfklubb is the second oldest in Sweden. The club moved around quite a bit in its formative years, operating from four different venues before finally settling at its present location.

  66. Växjö

    South & West Sweden, Sweden

    Founded in 1959, the course at Växjö Golfklubb was originally designed by Douglas Brasier, with Björn Magnusson and Pierre Fulke later updating the layout. A mix of parkland and woodland holes – combined with a tough finish – make Växjö a varied test.

  67. Landskrona (Erikstorp)

    South & West Sweden, Sweden

    With beguiling views over the Øresund strait to Ven island, the premier course at the 36-hole Landskrona Golfklubb is the Erikstorp layout which dates back to 1962. The course has benefited markedly from a Peter Chamberlain and Karl Oskar Seth USGA greens renovation in 2008.

  68. Forsgården (Slottsbanen)

    Forsgårgens Golfklubb has evolved since 1989 into a fine 27-hole golf facility, featuring the 9-hole Kungsbanen course and 18-hole Slottsbanen layout which hosted the Scandinavian Masters tournament in 1993 and 1996.

  69. Båstad (Nya)

    South & West Sweden, Sweden

    Sixty years after its formation, Båstad Golfkubb called in respected architect Tommy Nordström to design a second 18-hole course for its burgeoning membership and so the Nya (New) course made its debut in 1990.

  70. Vidbynäs (North)

    The North course at Vidbynäs Golf Club (formerly called the Axa) opened for play in 2004 and it was designed by American architects Brian Curley and Lee Schmidt...

  71. Ystad

    South & West Sweden, Sweden

    Located on the Baltic Sea coastline, Ystad Golfklubb began operations in 1932 with a 9-hole course but over the years this initial layout has evolved into the testing Thure Bruce-designed track that’s in play today.

  72. Vara-Bjertorp

    South & West Sweden, Sweden

    Laid out next to Bjertorp Castle, the fairways at Vara-Bjertorp Golfklubb have been in play since 1990, three years after the club was inaugurated. The landscape in this part of Västgötaslätten is pretty flat so the course is an easy walk.

  73. Söderby

    Central & North Sweden, Sweden

    Seven-time host to the Nordea Masters Tour, GolfUppsala’s open country course at Söderby Golf Club opened in 2004 and it measures a testing 6,670 metres from the black tees. It's therefore no surprise they refer to their Johan Benestam design as a “championship” layout.

  74. Ǻsundsholm

    The course at Ǻsundsholm Golf & Country Club is set within a beautiful property on the east shore of Ǻsunden Lake, where the author Birgit Th. Sparre wrote most of her books in the series entitled “Estates around the Lake.”

  75. Carlskrona

    Situated in a nature reserve bordering the ancient Viking burial grounds at Hjortahammar, the coastal course at Carlskrona Golfklubb has operated since 1953. The initial 9-hole layout was expanded to eighteen holes by Jan Sederholm thirty years later.

    Designed by Peter Nordwall and opened for play in 1982, Bro-Bålsta is a strategic course, routed over pleasantly rolling terrain and set in a tranquil, rural setting...

  78. Rönnebäck

    South & West Sweden, Sweden

    Hinton's Rönnebäck golf course is set on undulating ground, parts of which are reminiscent of Scottish moorland and parts of which are traditional parkland in character.

  79. Degeberga-Widtsköfle

    Degeberga-Widtsköfle Golf Club opened for play in 1990 and its springy heathland fairways are a joy to play on, even though they do rise and fall with regularity over some testing terrain.

  80. Kinds

    The course at Kinds Golfklubb occupies a beautiful location along the river Assman, just outside Svenljunga in southern Västergötland. Starting with a par five and ending with a par three, it’s a Jan Sederholm design that can be stretched to 6,000 metres.

  81. Jönköping

    South & West Sweden, Sweden

    Jönköping is situated at the southern end of Sweden's second largest inland body of water – Lake Vättern in Småland – and the 18-hole layout at Jönköpings Golfklubb has operated in the city since 1938, making it the oldest golf club in the province.

  82. Mauritzberg

    Central & North Sweden, Sweden

    Starting and finishing with a par five, the 18-hole layout at Mauritzbergs Slott & Golf plays as long as 6,574 metres from the tips. It’s rather a tough track to tackle with water coming in to play at half the holes on the scorecard.

  83. Veckefjärden

    Central & North Sweden, Sweden

    Arranged as two returning nines, the main 18-hole course at Veckefjärdens GC is a Kent and Peter Forsberg design that first opened for play at the start of the new millennium.

  84. Boden

    Central & North Sweden, Sweden

    Founded in 1946, Bodens Golfklubb is the oldest golf club in Norrbotten (North Bothnia), but the course in play today at Sävast is a 1992 design by Björn Eriksson. Measuring 6,062 metres from the tips, water comes into play at more than half the holes on the scorecard.

    Douglas Brasier and Frank Pennink laid out the original course at Delsjo Golfklubb in the early 1960s. Forty years later, Peter Chamberlain rebuilt all the greens, with the renovated layout re-opening on 20th July 2004.

  86. Skellefteå (Blue & Red)

    Central & North Sweden, Sweden

    Golf was first played at Rönnbäcken to the south of Skellefteå city in 1969 with 18 holes becoming available for play in 1977. A further nine was added in 1993, enabling Skellefteå Golf Club to lay claim to being the world’s northernmost 27-hole facility.

    Located close to the coast, the 18-hole layout at Lycke Golf & Country Club is set in beautiful nature, with holes laid out across a captivating mix of seaside, woodland and parkland terrain.

  88. Orust

    South & West Sweden, Sweden

    Orust Golfklubb’s original 9-hole layout was launched in 1985, with another nine holes added two years later. Incredibly, the construction costs were less than 600,000 Krona when the normal price for a new course around that time was 4-7 million Krona.

  89. Woodlands Country Club (Cedar & Pine)

    Swedish architect Hans Fock designed the original 18 holes at Woodlands Country Club and the Cedar & Pine loops meander through a beautiful forest. It’s a thorough test of golf, highlighted by some truly fun par threes.

  90. Lyckorna

    South & West Sweden, Sweden

    Lyckorna Golfklubb was the 100th club to join the Swedish Golf Association back in 1967. Today, the club’s Anders Amilon-designed course measures 6,100 metres from the back tees, playing to a par of 72.
