Martindale Country Club is one of Argentina's more modern courses. It blends an American design with a traditional English style, carved through dramatic cypress, cedar, oak and pine trees.

It is a long course but adaptable to all playing levels. It has artificial lakes and fairways with slopes and big multi-tiered greens, surrounded by high grass slopes and bunkers turning it into a challenging course for players of all levels.

In addition to its 18-hole course it has one of the most unusual and prettiest par three courses in South America which is used for smaller events by professional golfers.

Championships played: Argentine Open, Amateur Argentine Championship, Amateur stroke Play Championship, South American Junior Championship.

Although I play it every now and then, I had the chance to play it last week during a National Mid Amateur Scratch event and it is always different to play in prepared for a Championship. Set up was friendlier on Saturday, as on Sunday tees were almost all way back and some pin positions were just extremely tough. It is always a very nice experience to Martindale Golf Course - Photo by reviewerplay here, the woods that sorround the course are very nice and the course despite the 45 days dry that we are suffering in Argentina was in very good condition. You cannot expect firm and fast bent grass greens in this heat, so they were a little bit soft and slow but one in all the course was demanding. Although there are some holes I definitely do not like and some greens that just don't match the rest of the hole, I like the course although I would not put it in my personal top ten. But par 5 17th, par 3 6th, par 4 13th and the tough finishing holes are some of the great holes in Argentina. Would I call it a must? Maybe not for people that seek for classic design or challenge, but if you like landscaping and if you wish to see very nice houses around a golf course this one is then a must for you!

This always is a course that gets me tired because I always play 27 holes. The 18 holes championship course designed by Argentine Marcos Capdepont and opened in 1990 is one of our jewels, very well kept, American design with wide open fairways and inside one of the most luxurious country clubs in the country. 2 basics are a MUST here: always try to miss to the correct side and make sure your putter is on a good day. My favourite: par 5 #17, with a huge lake in front, it is almost always a 3-shot par 5.The 9 holes par 3 course is ideal for after a beer with friends, gamble some little pennies in this very nice course surrounded by oaks and surrounding a lake. If played in early fall, the different colours of the leaves make it a wonderful landscape.
