    The New York State Thruway ended The Tuxedo Club’s original course, so the architect of the day (RTJ) was enlisted to create a new layout a couple of miles south of the original where Stephen Kay revised three holes in 1991.

    A.W. Tillinghast laid out the course at the Niagara Falls Country Club at Lewiston (home of the Porter Cup) in 1919. The course has been altered down the years, first by Robert Trent Jones, then by Geoff Cornish and Brian Silva, before Tripp Davis was called in to rediscover the origins.

    The longest of three 18-hole layouts at the Turning Stone Resort, Tom Fazio’s Atunyote golf course extends to 7,315 yards from the back tees. It hosted the BC Open in 2006, the last time that particular PGA Tour event was played before the introduction of the FedEx Cup.
