Philippines

The Philippine Archipelago comprises of more than 7,000 beautiful islands and the tropical landscape is diverse with active volcanoes, stunning beaches, coral waters and rain forests. In 1898, the Philippines was colonised by the USA and consequently English is widely spoken across the country. Although Manila is the Filipino capital city, Davao City is about three times larger.

  1. Tom Weiskopf was the man entrusted to transform an area of scrubland into one of the best golfing layouts in the country. The Country Club was subsequently a host venue for the 2005 South East Asian games.

  2. Sta. Elena Golf & Country Club is the happy combination of lush tropical environment and the intellectual and physical rigours of a Trent Jones course.

  3. Anvaya Cove

  13. Luisita

    The course at Luisita Golf and Country Club was the first designed in the Philippines by Robert Trent Jones Senior back in 1967 and it lies to the north of Manila on an extensive estate...

  14. The South course at Canlubang Golf & Country Club opened in 1977, one year after its older stablemate. RTJII designed both layouts with the South routed across more varied terrain than the North.

  15. Summit Point

    Philippines

    The real estate company, Sta. Lucia, developed the Summit Point golf and residential facility, commissioning Robert Trent Jones Jr. to design a replica course (opened in 2005) with holes copied from Augusta, Cypress Point and other world famous layouts.

  16. Tagaytay Midlands is one of two mid-1990s courses laid out at Tagaytay by the late American architect Richard Bigler. Such is the extreme terrain, there’s a funicular transport system linking the two separate Midlands and Highlands clubhouses.

  17. The 36-hole complex here at Canlubang was carved from a former sugar plantation and it opened in 1976 when the North course debuted, followed a year later by its slightly shorter sibling, the South.

  18. Founded in 1901, Manila Golf & Country Club hosted the Philippine Open between 1913 and 1934. Sixty years after the club moved to its current home in 1948, Robert Moore of JMP Golf Design renovated the layout.

  19. Pueblo de Oro

    Philippines

    One of more than half a dozen golf courses designed by Robert Trent Jones Jnr in the Philippines, the 18-hole Pueblo de Oro layout was formally opened on 5 May 1998 by then President Fidel V. Ramos.

  20. Established in 2000, the Isao Aoki layout was the third course to open at the impressive Eagle Ridge Golf & Country Club facility...

  21. Designed by Kevin Ramsey of Golfplan, the public course at South Links established itself as a firm favourite of Manila golfers when it first opened for play in 2015. Unfortunately, a legal issue over land ownership forced the club to close in 2020.

  22. Calatagan

    Philippines

    Fashioned by Robert Trent Jones Jr. in 1978, Calatagan Golf Club is set idyllically on the Calatagan headland at the mouth of Pagapas Bay in Batangas. Once a private club, Calatagan is now open to the public.

  23. Mimosa Golf and Country Club could easily have been named Phoenix as it quite literally rose from the ashes that fell from Mount Pinatubo in 1991.

  24. Tropical rainforest, a crocodile lagoon, bird sanctuary, Mount Talamo, a banana plantation and the Davao River are part of the landscape at Rancho Palos Verdes Golf & Country Club, which is another Andy Dye design from his burgeoning Filipino portfolio.

  25. Greg Norman’s layout was the fourth and latest (2003) to open at the 72-hole Eagle Ridge Golf & Country Club – at one time Eagle Ridge had six courses planned.

  26. Eastridge

    Philippines

    Designed by James Martell Jr., a former student of RTJII, the course at Eastridge Golf Club is an early 1990s creation that’s routed over the undulating foothills of the longest mountain range in the Philippines, the Sierra Madre.

  27. There are two golf courses laid out within the extensive residential and recreational complex at Tagaytay, Midlands and Highlands, each with its own clubhouse and membership.

  28. Camp John Hay

    Philippines

    If you’re seeking exciting golf with altitude then put Camp John Hay on your list immediately. Refashioned by Nicklaus Design in 1999 and set at 5,000 feet above sea level, it may only measure a modest 5,000 yards, but it’s pure pleasure.

  29. Valley (South)

    Philippines

    Valley Golf & Country Club was founded in 1958 and the South course opened for play in 1961, following a James Herd Scott design. Host to the Philippine Open, most recently in 2010, the South is one of the best courses in the Antipolo area.

  30. Pradera Verde

    Philippines

    The November 2016 exhibition match between Jason Day and Rory McIlroy to mark the opening of the Mike Singgaran-designed Pradera Verde Golf & Country Club did not happen, but there’s no doubt this championship layout is set to make a big impact.
